Faces at the top

John Smith, who has been general secretary of the Musicians’ Union since 2002, has been re-elected for a further five-year term.

And Dave Penman has taken over at the helm of the FDA senior public servants’ union on the retirement of Jonathan Baume.

Meanwhile, the Napo probation union has begun the process of its next general secretary election, by asking applicants to apply by 7 December. Current incumbent Jonathan Ledger will be standing for re-election.

Elsewhere, TUC assistant general secretary Kay Carberry will replace Frances O’Grady as a commissioner on the Low Pay Commission, following O’Grady’s election as the next TUC general secretary.
