Living Wage

A poll of people in full and part-time work found that nearly three-quarters (74%) would be more likely to buy products or services from a company that pays its workforce the Living Wage rather than the National Minimum Wage.

The poll of 1,163 people was undertaken as part of the Unions21 Fair Work Commission. It also found that 83% of working people think the current minimum wage isn’t enough to meet living costs.

When asked about their own workplaces, around seven in 10 respondents (71%) said that their wages have fallen in real terms over the last two years.

And the same proportion said they would support a cap on bonuses at double total base salary.
