Post Office dispute

The national dispute over the Crown offices (large post offices) is continuing, with 4,000 CWU members taking their eighth day of strike action on 17 July.

Post Office management is, according to CWU deputy general secretary Dave Ward, planning to “close offices, cut jobs and reduce services”.

Meanwhile, in Bridgwater in Somerset, a local dispute at the delivery office led to three days of strike action in mid-July.

The dispute arose from accusations of managers bullying staff and breaking local and national agreements. The strike action followed earlier walkouts and has involved managers bussing in scabs through the picket line.
