Strike hits beer supplies

Deliveries to 30,000 hospitality sites, airports and businesses, including pubs, were significantly disrupted on 11 September due to one-day strike action at Kuehne & Nagel Drinks Logistics (KNDL).

Deliveries of Kronenbourg, Strongbow, John Smith’s, and Fosters, as well as Britvic soft drinks were affected.

The action involved 970 members of the Unite union who work as drivers, draymen and warehouse workers at depots throughout the UK. They are in dispute over changes to terms and conditions which they believe will lead to loss of jobs.

The company wants to open three “super hubs” and Unite believes this will eventually lead to significant job losses.

As well as a 24-hour strike, action has included a continuous ban on overtime and a work to rule.

The union has not ruled out further strikes.
