Norman Willis

Norman Willis, TUC general secretary from 1984 to 1993, died in June at the age of 81.

Current TUC leader Frances O’Grady paid tribute to the “warm, kind and immensely amusing colleague” who had “led the TUC with distinction during some of the most difficult years in the trade union movement’s history — a period that included the challenges of the miners’ strike and Mrs Thatcher’s onslaught on trade unionism”.
