New tripartite body in Poland

Legislation establishing a new tripartite body, bringing together unions, employers and the government, has just come into force in Poland.

The new Social Dialogue Council will have eight members from each of the three main unions in Poland — Solidarnosc, OPZZ and FZZ — and six members from each of the four main employers’ associations, as well as representatives of the government.

Unions and employers will be able jointly to bring forward legislative proposals, which the government will have to take account of — or explain why it is rejecting.
