BME review

Business secretary Sajid Javid has asked Baroness McGregor-Smith, CEO of the Mitie outsourcing and energy services company, to lead a review examining the development of black and minority ethnic (BME) talent in business.

The review is part of the government’s BME 2020 plan, aimed at improving labour market outcomes for BME people.

The plan charges ministers from across government with a range of targets, including increasing BME employment by 20% by 2020, increasing the proportion of BME apprenticeships by 20% and increasing the diversity of the armed forces and police recruitment.
