LRD
 annual general meeting

The Labour Research Department (LRD) annual general meeting will take place on Monday 16 May from 2.00pm at Jerwood Space, Union Street, London SE1 0LN.

The meeting will begin with a discussion about the Trade Union Bill, which threatens the basic right to strike. Speaker Roger McKenzie, UNISON assistant general secretary (AGS), will focus on union strategies in response to the Bill, and there will be an opportunity to discuss the implications before the meeting turns to the formal AGM agenda.

Roger has been UNISON AGS for over five years and is responsible for organising, recruitment and union education, having previously been the union’s West Midlands regional secretary (and, before that, regional secretary for the TUC Midlands region, and TUC race equality policy officer).

He has extensive experience of union organising and campaigning, particularly in the public sector, and interests in community organising, race equality, black labour history, public services, social media, progressive political campaigning and media work.

Any individual or organisation affiliated to the LRD who would like to attend the meeting, should contact Lewis Emery ([email protected]).
