Roache re-elected for second term to head up GMB union

Tim Roache has been re-elected general secretary of the third-largest TUC affiliate, the GMB general union, to run for a second term. He took 61% of the vote to head up the 615,000-member union. Sole opponent Kathleen Walker Shaw, the union’s European officer, took 39%.

Roache said: “It’s a huge honour to have received this backing from GMB members, adding: “We’re growing our profile, building our power and working to change the world of work.”
