‘Fairer Scotland’ anti-racism plan

The government in Scotland has introduced its strategy plan, A fairer Scotland for all: an anti-racist employment strategy, outlining how it intends to work with employers to help make Scotland’s workplaces more diverse, fair and inclusive.

It is described as a call for action and guide to address the issues and disadvantage experienced by people from racialised minorities in Scotland’s labour market.

It aims to help employers to improve collection of employee data; have an anti-racist approach to eliminate barriers to recruitment, retention and progression; and drive cultural, attitudinal and organisational change in relation to race. The strategy includes guidance, advice and examples of good practice for employers.

The government says it is a key component in achieveing its ambition to be a leading “Fair Work Nation” by 2025.
