Ticket office campaign

The Aslef train drivers’, MU musicians’ and NUJ journalists’ unions, as well as the NPC pensioners’ organisation, have backed the RMT and TSSA rail unions’ campaign to oppose the wholesale closure of ticket offices (see Labour Research, August 2023, page 4).

The TSSA called on the public to smash the half million mark in the consultation on the proposals, which ran to 1 September.

The RMT said that if the Transport Focus and London Travelwatch watchdogs running the consultations object to the ticket office closures this month, the decision will go to transport secretary Mark Harper when there would be a renewed campaign to put pressure directly on him.
