Ethnic minorities
Shopworkers' union USDAW has helped shape and fund a new post at Labour Party head office of ethnic minorities officer to encourage more black and Asian people to get involved in politics.
The union is concerned at rising support for the British National Party and is working closely with Labour to prevent the BNP gaining more of a foothold, especially in northern towns.
