Web-based union
An internet-based trade union for online workers is being launched, and run, by Norwegian print union the NGF.
To start with the new union will have no shop stewards or traditional union meetings. Members will pay subscriptions and will be free to attend, but not vote at, local union meetings.
"Young employees in web-based companies need the safety net that membership of a union provides," said NGF secretary Benedikte Sterner.
