Hazards at work

Organising for safe and healthy workplaces

Peter Kirby, TUC publications, paperback, 334 pages, £18.00

The TUC has published an updated version of its acclaimed Hazards at work book. Unlike the previous ring binder format, this is an A4-sized, single volume containing essential information for safety reps and others with an interest in health and safety.

The book also embodies the organising philosophy promoted by the TUC. Its chapters deal not only with all the major hazards, but also shows how to organise to make the workplace safe.

It covers well-known health and safety issues such as asbestos but also looks at important matters such as safety and disability.

Hazards at work is a practical guide containing checklists, where to get more information and useful suggestions from the TUC. It is authoritative and comprehensive, so safety reps should make sure they get a copy.
