‘Use the cuts to organise’ — TUC

The TUC is urging unions to use the All Together for Public Services campaign against public service cuts to strengthen their membership and organisation.

It has produced a leaflet showing how they can inspire existing members to “put themselves at the centre of community and workplace activity against the cuts”.

It says union activists could:

• test the strength of the union by mapping membership in the workplace and branch;

• ask non-members to join the union using the campaign as an opportunity to speak to them;

• motivate members to get more involved in the union by using campaign activity
