Stresses of working in call centres

the pressures on the physical and mental health of people working in call centres have been highlighted in a survey published by the UNISON public sector union.

The research found that half experienced problems with their voices and six out of 10 experienced hearing problems.

The study found that the pace of work can be intolerable. A quarter of respondents said that their access to toilets was restricted, an indication of the relentless nature of the work.

Also of huge concern was the fact that eight out of 10 respondents stated that the working practices that they had to endure in call centres caused them to feel stressed.
