London Living Wage

Staff at the Industrial Dwellings Society, a small London-based housing association received a consolidated 2% pay increase from 1 August along with a one-off non-consolidated £250 for all staff. But, on a trial basis, it was also agreed to put in place the application of London Living Wage (LLW) rates to agency staff who cover for the absence of caretakers and cleaners.

This is not the first case of the LLW being paid at London housing associations. At the much bigger East Thames Housing Association the last pay deal, an 18-month settlement from April 2011 provided for an increase of 2.5% or the LLW, whichever was the greater, from April 2012.
