Hinkley Point gets learning centre

A new union learning centre at the Hinkley Point nuclear plant will help create hundreds of apprenticeships and provide training and learning for local people and workers at the Somerset plant.

The centre is supported by the GMB, UCATT, Unite and Prospect unions as well as the employer EDF Energy.

TUC assistant general secretary Paul Nowak said: “Each year, more than 200,000 people are given training and learning opportunities through their union. As well as helping workers to become more skilled and productive, unions make workplaces better environments to work in.”
