Holyrood 2% deal

Specialist staff at the Scottish Parliament, members of the Prospect union, have accepted a two-year inflation busting deal.

The 2016-18 award increases pay for those on the maximum of their pay scale by 2% in each year and provides an increase of 1% in addition to progression, which will be worth at least 4.5%, to those below their maximum.

An increase in public holidays and commitments to the Scottish Living Wage are also included in the comprehensive pay agreement for the likes of research staff – as well as a commitment to no compulsory redundancies over the two years.

Prospect negotiator David Avery said the Holyrood deal has been possible “because the Holyrood parliament is not subject to public pay constraints set by either Scottish or UK ministers and therefore meaningful negotiations with the trade unions have been able to take place”.
