Hazardous pesticides

Many of the 300 pesticides on the Pesticides Action Network’s (PAN’s) newly updated list of Highly Hazardous Pesticides (HHPs) are still in widespread use across the world, according to the international safety campaign group.

PAN first published the list in 2009 and is calling on governments, the pesticide industry, the food industry, farmers and farmer organisations and public interest groups to develop plans of action for a progressive ban of HHPs. It wants them replaced with safer, “agro-ecological” and other appropriate non-chemical alternatives.
