Unions at Conservative-controlled Portsmouth City Council lobbied councillors on Valentine’s Day to press them to reverse their decision to half the budget for facility time.
Council unions Unite, UNISON and the GMB presented council leader Donna Jones with a huge Valentine’s card filled with messages from union members, arguing that union reps’ facility time is a cost-effective way of maintaining good industrial relations.
