Above-inflation rise for Austrian metalworkers

unions in Austria’s metalworking industry, PRO-GE representing manual and GPA-djp representing non-manual workers, have reached agreements with the employers which deliver above-inflation pay increases. Pay goes up by 3.0% from 1 November at a time when prices are rising by 2.2%.

As in previous years, there are six separate settlements for different parts of the industry, and, as in previous years, all six, covering a total of 186,000 workers, have settled on the same terms. The first settlement, in the metal technical industry, came on 9 November, and the last in the heating and foundry industry on 17 November.

As well as the pay rises, which take minimum rates to €1,848.08 a month, the deals also improve sick pay arrangements.
