Fire safety forum demand

The FBU firefighters’ union has called for a fire safety forum to be convened urgently to ensure the recommendations from the Grenfell Tower public inquiry are acted on “quickly and efficiently”.

Last month, FBU general secretary Matt Wrack wrote to a range of organisations in central, devolved and local government, as well as fire safety bodies and the Grenfell community calling for “a forum of all those needed to drive through sweeping changes to UK fire safety”.

“The Grenfell Tower fire should be a turning point in fire safety across the UK,” he wrote. “We wish to ensure that the lessons to be learned from this first phase of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry are put into practice and set a precedent for action on the recommendations that will be made in Phase 2.”
