Minimum wage in Spain


The national minimum wage in Spain is being increased by 5.5% this year to €950, although as this monthly amount is paid 14 times, with extra payments in the summer and at the end of the year, the payment per calendar month is €1,108.33. 


The increase was agreed by the unions and the employers on 22 January under pressure from the new Spanish government, and it will be backdated to the start of the year. Inflation in Spain is currently 1.1% (January). 


The government estimates that the increase will affect around two million workers.
