TU officer apprenticeship

An apprenticeship standard for trade union officials developed between unions and the TUC’s threatened learning wing unionlearn has been approved by the Institute for Apprentices and Technical Education.

The Apprenticeship for Trade Union Officials includes key skills elements such as communication, research, organising and negotiation skills, which unionlearn says will “enable a trade union official to support working people, along with identifying and dealing with issues and disputes”.

Meanwhile, the TSSA became the first union to sign up to unionlearn’s Apprenticeship Charter, which commits signatories to quality apprenticeships within their organisations.
