BT salaries rise by 3.2%

New pay scales, allowances and short-term cover rates came into force on 1 April. Scale minima for the various grades went up by 3.2%. Examples of the new pay salary scales are set out below (all the examples quoted are the "main range" for the grade). Revised allowances include:

* use of one foreign language (skill level 2) £2,180 (for higher skill/more languages highest allowance is £3,826 while operating grades using one or more foreign language get £2,047.46);

* outside broadcast technicians in NBC Broadcast Services employed on an annual hours contract get an allowance of £10,140;

* photoprinter 1 operating special processes £547.21;

* clerical officer retail pool allowance £1,338.89;

* increased shift allowances include clerical and allied grade rates eg 24-hour seven day working £587.16, and double day five day working £173.07;

* on-call and emergency attendance compensation rates are now Monday pm to Saturday am £11.22; Saturday 8am to Sunday 8am £28.06; Saturday pm to Sunday am £19.12; Sunday 8am to Monday 8am £28.06; and bank/public holiday 8am to next day 8am £41.53.
