T&G wants protection for staff as licensing hours are to be relaxed

Pub staff will be at risk when licensing hours are relaxed, unless the government acts, warned general union T&G.

The relaxation of licensing hours was announced in the Queen's Speech.

The T&G wants employers to ensure that members of staff released late at night have a safe means of transport home with the employer bearing the costs of taxis when no public transport is available.

The union also wants safeguards such as door control, CCTV and personal attack alarms provided by the employer to stop violence towards staff.
