Disabled women doubt diversity efforts

Disabled women workers are among those of “intersecting multiple identities” who most doubt the success of workplace diversity, equity and inclusion programmes, research by HR tech firm Culture Amp has found.

BAME, disabled and LGBTQ+ women are more unsure than any other groups of workers about the effectiveness of their organisations’ DEI efforts, the report said, while men are more likely to think DEI programmes are successful.

“DEI interventions have typically been one-dimensional,” commented Mary-Clare Race, chief executive at business management consultancy Talking Talent. “Our identities have many layers, presenting various barriers at different times in our lives and careers.”
