High inflation falls slightly
Falling motor fuel prices, and a slight cooling in the still very high rate of increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages (over 17%) helped reduce inflation for the year to June.
Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation dropped to 10.7% (down from 11.3%); the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) 7.9% (from 8.7%); and CPI with a housing element (CPIH) 7.3% (from 7.9%).
