Butlins' back pay

Following a Court of Appeal ruling in February, back pay is due to thousands of former live-in holiday camp staff. Leisure Employment Services (which operates Butlins and other resorts) was found to have breached the National Minimum Wage Regulations by requiring staff to pay £6 per fortnight for heat and light that meant they were paid less than the minimum wage. The GMB general union told Labour Research that it was pleased to see the minimum wage being enforced.
