Re-recognition
Staff at the Alliance & Leicester have regained union recognition at the bank after switching to the larger CWU union. The 2,500 members of the former Alliance and Leicester Group Union of Staff transferred to the CWU in April 2007 after the smaller union was derecognised by the bank. The CWU also had members at the bank, and retained its recognition rights.
The company has now agreed to full collective bargaining rights for the 3,500 staff.
