NHS Direct job cuts
Unions representing NHS Direct workers have said they may take industrial action over plans that threaten to cut up to 800 posts and close 12 call centres. Public sector union UNISON said a decision on future action would be taken once it was known how NHS Direct planned to proceed following a consultation exercise that ended last month.
