Collective benefits of bargaining
A survey of power station pay levels confirms the benefits of collective bargaining, Prospect says.
Very few of the new combined cycle gas fired (CCGT) stations have collective bargaining arrangements, and terms and conditions are inferior to those where Prospect has long-established bargaining arrangements. A third of staff in the survey earned between £20,000 to £30,000 a year while one in eight earned less than £20,000, and many staff rely on bonus payments to supplement basic salaries.
