Community unionism
Trade unions have been urged to link up with local communities to combat their long-term decline. A Fabian Society pamphlet, Union futures - building networked trade unionism in the UK, urges unions to organise within the community and actively engage in international networks.
Pamphlet author Jane Wills said unions could "no longer rely on weak regional TUC structures and declining trades councils to develop their profile and influence at the local level."
