Rise in compensation
From 1 February 2000 the amount that can be claimed in statutory redundancy pay has increased from £220, for a week's pay, to £230. There have also been increases to the amount of money paid to those laid
off (guarantee pay) which has gone up from £15.35 to £16.10. The minimum amount of compensation paid for dismissal in health and safety, employee representative and trade union cases has also gone up, from
£2,900 to £3,100. Minimum compensation for employees excluded or expelled from a union has also gone up to £5,300 from £5,000.
