Amicus aims to attract more Muslims

The skilled and professional union Amicus is aiming to build representation in the Muslim community through an initiative to help young Muslim women find out about trade unionism.

Last month Amicus sponsored a trip by young women from Tipton Muslim Community Centre in the West Midlands to meet the union's members in Manchester.

Amicus national equalities officer Linda McCulloch said she hoped they all learned about what the union does and that, "when these young women join the workforce, they will be encouraged to join a trade union."
