Student nurse recruitment pack is a hit

Public services union UNISON’s Student nurse/midwives pack won the award for best recruitment material in the Trade Union Press and PR Awards 2006 in July.

The judges commented that, “in the modern age of so many competing demands on their wallets, new members will be best attracted by a straightforward, easily understandable approach that makes a quick impact”.

They judged that the union’s “hook” of presenting the material as a “survival pack” was well pitched and targeted, and said the application form, phone line and web address were presented clearly and simply.

Also commended by the judges were the NUT teachers’ union’s Really useful pack for teachers (praised for its inclusion of “all the essentials”) and the Value for money leaflet produced by shopworkers’ union USDAW.
