Metalworkers publish restructuring handbook
The European Metalworkers Federation (EMF) has published a guide on dealing with company restructuring across national borders.
The 114-page handbook examines the EU legislation relevant to restructuring and looks at the ways that unions, European works councils and the EMF itself can influence the process.
It discusses possible legal remedies and sets out 10 principles for dealing with transnational restructuring, placing great emphasis on co-ordinating action between workers in different countries.
There are also detailed sections setting out national arrangements for dealing with restructuring in individual EU member states.
The handbook can be downloaded by visiting www.emf-fem.org/areas_of_work/company_policy and clicking on the relevant link.
