Judicial appointments

While the proportion of people from minority ethnic groups appointed to the judiciary has risen in the last year, the overall proportion of new appointments of women judges has fallen.

In the year when the first ever female appointment to the highest UK court, the House of Lords, has taken place, the Department for Constitutional Affairs describes the fall in the number of women in judicial office as "disappointing".
