TUC backs company law review
The TUC has welcomed recommendations for a review of company law which could lead to companies publishing more details of their planning and its impact on workers. In particular it is backing a proposal that there should be a more inclusive statement of directors' duties. This would require companies to have regard to the interests of their employees, customers, suppliers and the wider community. TUC general secretary John Monks says that this would "act as a restraint on the seemingly relentless maximisation of shareholder value that drives most of today's corporate decisions."
