Union safety campaign looks at crane collapse
South London Action on Safety and Health (SLASH), the new local network for union safety reps (see March's Workplace Report), is carrying out its own inquiry into a crane collapse in Battersea last month.
Two people died on 26 September on the Patmore Estate after a crane collapsed onto a block of residential flats. Local residents had expressed concerns about their safety to Wandsworth Council, but nothing was done.
SLASH held a public meeting on 25 October as part of efforts to call the culprits to account. For further information, call SLASH secretary Graham Petersen on 07743 161795.
