New centre will focus on preventing ill health
A national centre to promote workplace health opened its doors last month.
Based at the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) in Buxton, the Centre for Workplace Health will develop practical solutions to workplace health problems, and provide training in occupational health.
TUC head of health and safety Hugh Robertson warmly welcomed the new centre - a joint initiative between the HSL, the University of Sheffield and The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust.
"For too long, research on the prevention of occupational ill health has been overlooked as money has been put into treatments," said Robertson. "This will help address this imbalance."
