Disabilities

The HSE has published research looking at whether health and safety requirements were being used as a "false excuse" for not employing or continuing to employ disabled people or people with an injury or ill-health condition. It revealed that "health and safety is frequently being used as the rationale for non-recruitment or dismissal of a disabled person", but found "considerably more evidence" of employers overcoming health and safety difficulties to retain someone with a disability, ill health condition or injury.
