Swedish research improves drivers' seats

The Swedish National Institute for Working Life has developed a lorry driver’s seat which reduces vibrations by a third.

“The prototype seat we have developed improves damping by up to 30%,” said researcher Lage Burström. “It works particularly well in off-road vehicles and in boats, and reactions from professional drivers who have tried the seat have been extremely positive.”

The work is the result of research in six European countries over three years.
