Nuclear sale must pass safety test, says Prospect
Professional union Prospect is insisting that any sale of the British Nuclear Group (BNG) must pass stringent safety tests.
British Nuclear Fuels Ltd (BNFL) wants to sell BNG, which is responsible for decommissioning UK nuclear sites.
Prospect opposes the sale on public interest, industrial and safety grounds, but acknowledges that the government may go ahead with it. If that is the case, national secretary Mike Graham warned, “Our members will not accept any reduction in the standards expected of management and staff.”
