Teaching unions work together
The largest teaching union, the NUT, has signed a partnership agreement with three smaller teaching unions operating in different parts of the UK. The three are the Educational Institute of Scotland, the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation and the Ulster Teachers Union. The NUT itself does not organise in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
The aim of the deal is to address common challenges more effectively and allow members who move between the countries of the UK to get support from the appropriate union. The four also say they will “work as partners in close co-operation, campaigning together where appropriate, and promoting our shared trade union values”.
