USDAW parents’ survey
USDAW shopworkers’ union reps are highlighting sources of help for working parents during the recession as part of the union’s Supporting Parents and Carers campaign. An USDAW survey showed that, except for Tax Credits, awareness of benefit entitlements among working parents was low. Less than one third were aware of the Sure Start maternity grant of £500 or the new Health in Pregnancy grant of £190. Many did not even know about Child Benefit.
