Abolition of Lifelong Learning UK
An additional blow to the future of workplace training comes with the recent announcement by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills that the sector skills council for lifelong learning, Lifelong Learning UK, will not be relicensed, ceasing to exist from April 2011. The skills council represents over 57,000 UK employers in the field of work-based training, further and higher education, career guidance and libraries. Future arrangements for its work have yet to be announced.
