Union pledge on apprentices
Public services union UNISON is leading by example in the drive to encourage employers to take on apprentices.
The union has pledged to create between three and six apprenticeships over the next 12 months at its London headquarters.
The move comes as part of the London Borough of Camden council’s “100 in 100” scheme, launched last month, in which the council is challenging 100 local businesses and employers to take on 100 apprentices.
UNISON says its scheme could eventually be rolled out across the union nationally.
