GMB equality awards

Mick Lancaster, a GMB branch secretary in Asda distribution, has won the union’s award for Most Inspirational Individual on Equality at the GMB’s annual Congress. He campaigned for reasonable adjustments at Asda distribution and for greater employer accountability for the “two ticks symbol”.

Colin Puckett, GMB branch secretary of the North Bristol NHS Trust, won the Most Inspirational Equality Project for Organising. GMB equalities officer Kamaljeet Jandu said Puckett had consolidated his branch with “the recruitment ethic, driven branch growth and secured payment from the employers for members with severe learning difficulties”.
